Using mediums such as acrylic, oil paint encaustic wax, and tempera, Calkins will create scissor-cut paper stencils to make complex paintings on surfaces including wood, paper, or canvas.
In this presentation, Mr. Brown will discuss what an artist must consider when pricing their artwork. He will cover a variety of factors that determine the price an artist attaches to their creations.

It is an honor to have Santiago Hernandez, a visual artist and drummer, & university educator, for our speaker. Santiago has long been interested in musical structure as inspiration for his work.
Arch, a mixed media artist living and working in Boston, is interested in creating immersive experiences with sculpture and paint such as creating wall art and sculpture.

Underpainting is a humble technique that holds tremendous power. This monochromatic foundation layer quietly establishes proportions and composition, allowing artists to refine their vision and to lay the groundwork for vibrant colors to flourish.
Each year, for more than 35 years, the NAA has awarded scholarships to senior art students who attend high school in Newton or who are Newton residents.
