2024 Newton Art Association (NAA)
High School Senior Scholarship Application

Each year the NAA awards scholarships to three high school seniors who live or go to school in Newton. In 2024, $3,000 in prize money will be divided among recipients. Applications will open February 21, 2024.

  • Application deadline: April 5, 2024 at midnight
  • Award recipients will be announced by email: April 22, 2024
  • Awards Ceremony:  May 6, 7pm (Recipients will be updated as to whether the ceremony will be in person or virtual.)
  • All applicants receive a free NAA membership for one year.

Eligibility:

  1. Any senior art student who attends school in Newton or is a Newton resident is eligible.
  2. Students who are going to college, taking a “year off” before entering college, or who are entering the military after high school are eligible.

Students’ artwork may include printmaking, drawing, photography, painting, digital art, mixed media, metal work, ceramics, glass, sculpture.

  • Online application opens: February 21, 2024
  • Application deadline: April 5, 2024 midnight

Application Process:

  1. Complete the online application (using the online document, you can type or paste in your information).
  2. Submit 6 images of your work in digital format (JPG format only). ). The label for each jpg is the file name of your submitted image. The following is the required format for the file name:
    Name (FirstLast) followed by Title, Medium and the number of your image (#1-6). No spaces between words of name, title, and medium.
    example: JoanSmith_PeacefulMorning:mixedmedia_2.jpg 

    JPG should be 300 dpi (if possible). The file dimensions should be at least 1900 pixels on the longest side and not be larger than 5 MB.

  3. Artist Statement: Please provide a short introduction to your art, which may include what inspires you, a description of your process, or the role art plays in your life. (250 words or less).
  4. Include an inventory sheet
    A. List file name of images on inventory list that you uploaded.
    B. The file name of image in inventory list must match exactly the file name listed on the uploaded image.
