Artist Statement

My words and images focus on the everyday and overlooked aspects of the built environment, from trains and bridges to neon signs and diners. I like capturing vehicles in motion and finding perspectives that transform ordinary objects into abstractions. Sometimes there’s a little rust or a broken light bulb. But no matter; these are just the scars of survival. Recently, I detoured into candlepin bowling, a form of the game with deep New England roots. But regardless of the subject, I love when my photos and books evoke memories, whether it’s a first date at a long-gone movie palace or a birthday party at a now-shuttered bowling center. I hope my work sparks the same nostalgia for you.
