Julia Purdy

American artist Julia Purdy is an intuitive, abstract artist working in the SoWa Art + Design district in the South End in Boston, Massachusetts. Her paintings originate in intuition. She draws her inspiration from images and compositions that she experiences in a meditative state well before engaging with the canvas. She envisions a picture of the finished artwork – the color, composition, and other elements of a painting – before she picks up a paintbrush. Her paintings explore ideas related to the human condition, such as our connection to each other as well as our connection to the environment. White is an important color in her work. It represents white light – the positive light, love, hope, peace and spirit within us.
