Painting, dancing, and drawing are explorations, not the execution of fixed ideas. Line is core, infused by color or music. But in these studies of the body in space, in motion or in repose, on film, ice, or paper (in life more fair by far) is still the hope that an empathy may be evoked, and perhaps a sense of wonder at the strangeness of being.
