The Art of Healing 2022 Application
A Collaborative Exhibit with Newton Cultural Alliance at The Allen House
Artists must submit a statement about their work and how it relates to art and healing.
This show is expected to fill up very quickly.
Applications will be accepted online on a first-come, first-served basis.

Exhibit Information:
- Venue can accommodate 35 to 40 works.
- Submitted work cannot exceed 36 inches on the longest side, including frame, if framed.
- The Newton Art Association and Newton Cultural Alliance will split a 40% commission for each work sold. The artist will receive 60%.
- Each participant will pay an exhibition fee of $25 for one piece of artwork.
- Cash awards will be presented.
NAA Guidelines for all shows:
- NAA members in good standing with all dues paid are eligible to participate.
- Participants may only submit one piece of original work.
- Work must stay up until the end of the show.
- Work must be framed and ready to hang with wires and screws. Saw tooth hangers may not be used.
- Mats must be white, off white, gray, or other neutral tones.
- Frames should be neutral colors (white, black, silver, gold, wood).
- All work that can be smudged or smeared must be protected by glass or acrylic glass.
- Unframed stretched canvases must have the sides painted or otherwise finished in a way that is integral to the work and must be DRY.
Procedures and requirements for participants:
- Submit application online.
- Submit an exhibition fee of $25, payable online by PayPal and credit card; or check made out to NAA. Check must be sent to: NAA Treasurer, Mark Chadbourne, 691 Hammond Street, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
- Upload an image of your work with your application (see below).
- Read and consent to the waiver on the application for NAA and NCA regarding liability and image use.
- Write a short statement about the connection of your work to the theme (The Art of Healing). You will email this statement to the NAA when you receive a confirmation and drop-off information email.
- Label back of artwork with: Artist name, Title, Medium, and Price.
- Drop off work at the scheduled date and time.
- Pick up art promptly at the scheduled date and time or plan for someone to pick it up on your behalf. No storage space is provided.
- Work that does not meet the requirements for this exhibition will not be accepted. Please adhere to the guidelines and requirements
Uploading Image Files:
- All artwork images should be a maximum file size of 3MB.
- 2D artwork images should feature the artwork level to the camera, not angled against the wall, and the image must be cropped to show only the artwork (no frames or background).
- The artwork image file should be labeled in this manner with: artistlastname-firstname-title-medium-dimensionsininchesHxW-yearcompleted-price.
- For example: Varnum-JamesC-Landscape-watercolorandink-18×24-2020-$360.
Important Dates to Remember for The Art of Healing Exhibit
Drop off: Saturday, March 26, 2022, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony: Sunday, April 3, 2022, 2 to 4 p.m.
Closing Reception/Checkout and Pick Up: Sunday, May 1, 2022, 2 to 4 p.m.
