For the past decade, Newton Art Association (NAA) artists have been invited to show their work at Keyes Drug in Auburndale. The exhibit location, the 2090 Commonwealth Avenue window, is flanked by foot traffic from local coffee shops and businesses and often results in sales for the artists.
NAA board member Beverley Droz runs the program identifying and scheduling interested artists and placing the art in the windows during the switches, usually every six-eight weeks. How many pieces will fit? It depends on size. The best idea is to visit the pharmacy and see the window, says Droz.
“We hope NAA artists will continue exhibiting!” says Droz. “And we thank Keyes Pharmacy for their ongoing opportunity to artists of the NAA. There are not many art exhibition locations in our large city and this location is viewable to the many people walking and driving by.” Ray Dinno of Keyes Drug welcomes being part of the local community.
“When opportunities like the association with NAA come along, we are happy to be part of them. Art is a way we can both beautify the area, as well as help local artists in their dreams” says Dinno
