Artist Statement

Deb received a BFA in printmaking from Penn State University in 1973 and worked as a graphic designer for The Boston Globe. During this time, she co-founded a yearly art exhibition at the Charlestown Navy Yard. Deb has exhibited in numerous shows in the Boston area, winning third place for abstract painting and awarded Deb with the Mollie L. And Henry Schoenberg Prize in the 2019 show at Newton Public Library. Deb is an active member of Newton Open Studios (board member), Post Road Art Center (Marlborough), Newton Art Association and Concord Art Association. “I am inspired by light and awed by the beauty and variation in nature. I began as a plein air painter, but now paint in abstract. Though it was a difficult transition, I find I am able to create art that is uniquely my own.”
