SUMMARY:ANNUAL APPEAL
DESCRIPTION:Image: Judith Hurwitz \n \n MAKE A DONATION\n \nNewton Art Association was founded 75 years ago\, and our commitment to building community among artists and friends lives on today. We are a growing community of artists\, with our 220+ members representing all branches of visual arts. That’s why we are asking for your support to sustain our current programs and to grow our future. \nThis past year\, we supported creative growth through professional development workshops\, artist demonstrations\, critiques\, and exhibitions. We awarded scholarships to seven high school seniors and continued to provide rotating public art at Art at the Bus Stop\, a public art installation in West Newton Square. \nYour gift in any amount helps fund our programs. Your contributions: \n\nkeep art demonstrations and professional development events free and open to the public.\npay for printing artworks on weather-proof materials for Art at the Bus Stop.\nsupport our outreach to the Newton community through our art.\npay rental costs for exhibition spaces and judges.\nfund our scholarship program.\n\nSimply put\, the Annual Appeal sustains our programs. That’s why your support is so critical. Your gift is valued and not taken for granted. \nArt matters to us all. Your contributions ensure that NAA continues to be a vibrant art organization that promotes our artists and strengthens Newton’s arts community. \nArt matters to us all. SUMMARY:DEMO: Deborah Drummond - Printing with a Gel Plate
DESCRIPTION:DEMO: Deborah Drummond – Printing with a Gel Plate\nJanuary  15@ 7-9pm\nGel plate printing is a low cost and accessible monotype printing process resulting in unique and unexpected effects on papers for collage\, bookmaking\, journaling and mixed media.\nIn this demo\, Deborah will show some of the myriad of ways she employs this mono printing process using water-based paints\, papers and a variety of tools and materials which produce exciting overlays of color and patterns.\nTechniques such as using stencils\, image transfer and mark-making will be discussed\, leading to how she uses these and other found and painted papers in her process for collage work.\nDeborah Drummond is an artist with professional background in illustration and design. In contrast to her professional work\, her art focuses on non-objective abstraction in acrylic and collage/multi media\, exploring visual elements of color and shape and how they create a conversation with each other and as a whole.\nRaised in the a western suburb of Boston she recently relocated and works out of her home studio and Sutton Ma. She teaches her approach in workshops in the NE area. \nTopic: Deborah Drummond Demo: Printing with a Gel PlateTime: Jan 15\, 2026 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)Join Zoom Meetinghttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/85859299626?pwd=Io433lJlzuLbulYISa0lbs062p709H.1 \nView meeting insights with Zoom AI Companionhttps://us02web.zoom.us/launch/edl?muid=0ff62e5e-d30f-41ba-93b3-5a40d7d90099 \nMeeting ID: 858 5929 9626Passcode: 464540

SUMMARY:DEMO: Christie Scheele - Painting with Cold Wax
DESCRIPTION:DEMO: Christie Scheele – Painting with Cold Wax\nJanuary  22@ 7-9pm \n \n Watch Recording\n \nMy intentions for the demo are to show the progression of steps in how I attain my technique. We will begin with an assessment of my reference photo and then move on to color mixing and critiquing the palette followed by brush technique\, laying the paint in on top of the dark ground. Over the two hours\, the composition will coalesces while we discuss color\, edge\, shape\, and directionality\, content\, and mood. \nChristie Scheele began painting her atmospheric\, minimalist landscapes just before moving to the Catskills from New York City in 1990. She is an exhibiting artist of over forty years in multiple galleries nationwide. Scheele’s work is also included in private and public collections nationwide and internationally. \n \nTopic: Christie Scheele Art Demo: Painting in Cold WaxTime: Jan 22\, 2026 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)Join Zoom Meetinghttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/89876766884?pwd=mB3U4KZutiS1Gl0m4TuvrHsHFeZHUX.1 \nView meeting insights with Zoom AI Companionhttps://us02web.zoom.us/launch/edl?muid=58190bc9-ea93-4ac1-aa65-c7da85a2ed18 \nMeeting ID: 898 7676 6884Passcode: 000096
