She introduced oil painting\, the impressionists\, and the value of working from life. Soon after\, Gary decided to make art his life path. Eventually he was drawn east to Boston where he met Professor Kaji Aso at the SMFA. Professor Aso introduced eastern aesthetics\, Calligraphy and Sumi painting. Gary quickly graduated to watercolor and found that he could achieve much more subtlety and expressiveness through this temperamental media. \n“Through the media of watercolor and my process of painting I find power through brushwork\, and subtlety through transparency.” \n“Watercolor differs from other media in that there is a performance aspect to it. The fine pieces come out in one sitting and very often like a classic performance\, something happens\, a fusion of mind and subject\, an improvisation that cannot be duplicated.”

SUMMARY:Critique Zoom Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Forming a virtual critique group is an invaluable way to get together and share our work. Myra Abelson & Chippa Martin have been co-hosting NAA critique meetings for many years and have also been part of a small critique group that meets monthly. They will lead this workshop that is designed to help others understand the basics of forming a small critique group and the benefits of such an endeavor. \nSome of the topics we will address include optimal group size\, length and frequency of each meeting\, and rules of engagement. We will discuss how to give and ask for feedback for optimal gain. We will also show how Zoom and DropBox make virtual meetings successful. This workshop will be open to all members who wish to attend. No attendance limit. \nPlease email Myra Abelson at msmyralee@verizon.net to be included on the guest list. A zoom and dropbox link will be mailed out a couple of days prior to the Critique dates and a zoom link will be mailed to those attending the Workshop.
