SUMMARY:Demo with Katherine Miller | Landscape to Abstraction
DESCRIPTION:Newton AA is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. \n\n\nTopic: NewtonArt Demo: Katherine Miller \n\n\nTime: May 16\, 2021 02:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) \n\n\nJoin Zoom Meeting \n\n\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/83429736988?pwd=eWJtZlgrNWd6OGNOejlNd0NrTVp2dz09 \n\n\n\nMeeting ID: 834 2973 6988 \n\n\nPasscode: 408494 \n\n  \nFor Katherine Miller\, painting is the most intuitive and effective form of communication. She believes that beauty lies in minimal complexity. She creates freedom within structure. Everything about nature and the landscape inspires Miller’s imagery. In her work\, she considers the honesty and purity of color and the use of visual metaphor. Her goal is to create paintings that capture visual and emotional moments. Using shapes derived from the landscape\, Miller distills the visual essence of purity to capture feelings through abstraction.

SUMMARY:Demo with Gary Tucker | Watercolor
DESCRIPTION:Zoom Meeting Link \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/84952089913?pwd=WWtleUFSZFpwRlM5NXJQRHJCNlpGdz09 \nMeeting ID: 849 5208 9913\nPasscode: 669481 \n  \nGary Tucker started painting with life long mentor and artist\, Anita Fahs. She introduced oil painting\, the impressionists\, and the value of working from life. Soon after\, Gary decided to make art his life path. Eventually he was drawn east to Boston where he met Professor Kaji Aso at the SMFA. Professor Aso introduced eastern aesthetics\, Calligraphy and Sumi painting. Gary quickly graduated to watercolor and found that he could achieve much more subtlety and expressiveness through this temperamental media. \n“Through the media of watercolor and my process of painting I find power through brushwork\, and subtlety through transparency.” \n“Watercolor differs from other media in that there is a performance aspect to it. The fine pieces come out in one sitting and very often like a classic performance\, something happens\, a fusion of mind and subject\, an improvisation that cannot be duplicated.”
