Call for Art: Suzuki School of Music

Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, December 31 in the form below.
You will be asked to upload an image of your work.

Space is limited to 30 works of art on a first-come-first-served basis. In the past there has been 3-D work, but it must be placed on a fireplace mantel. There is no space for pedestals. No application fee is required for this exhibit and no commission is taken.

Submit one piece of artwork that is related in some way to the theme: Unity. This could be musically or artistically related. Work submitted must have content that is suitable for viewing by children at the school.

Exhibit opens Monday, January 6, 2025
Exhibition closes Friday, May 2, 2025
Drop offs Friday, January 3 at 11 am to 12 pm
Pick ups Friday, May 2, 10 to 11 am

Requirements:

  • All interested Newton Art Association exhibiting-artist members are eligible to participate and may enter one piece of artwork.
  • Participants may only submit original work.
  • 3-D work may be entered but must sit on a fireplace mantle.
  • Any work accepted for exhibition may not be removed or exchanged during the duration of the exhibit which is approximately four months.
  • There is a size limit of 36 inches on the longest side for 2-D work.
  • Work must be framed and ready to hang with wires and screws. Saw tooth hangers and sandwich frames may not be used. Suzuki uses a Walker hanging system.
  • Works on paper and smearable mediums such as charcoal and pastels must be protected under glass or Plexiglass.
  • For framed artwork larger than 24” on the longest side, artists must use Plexiglas or comparable acrylic glass. Pastels are excepted and may use glass.
  • Mats must be white, off white, gray, or other neutral tones. Frames should be neutral colors (white, black, silver, gold, wood).
  • Unframed stretched canvases must have the sides painted or otherwise finished to be integral to the work, and must be dry.
  • The NAA will disqualify any work that is not ready to hang when it arrives at the gallery.
  • Participating artists must be able to deliver and pick up selected work on the dates listed or to make alternative arrangements.
  • Images may be submitted through Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
  • Drop-off of work will be on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11am to 12pm.

Procedures for participants:

  1. Submit application below.
  2. Upload image of art. Image file must include last name, title, media, dimensions and price.
  3. Label back of artwork with Artist name, Title, Media, and Price.
  4. Drop off work at the scheduled date and time.
  5. Pick up art promptly at the scheduled date and time or make arrangements for someone to pick it up on your behalf. No storage space is provided
