Artist Statement
My work draws from the landscape of my childhood. It is a reaction to my experience in the natural world and reflects my concern for the environment. In my monotypes and monoprints I explore the tension between abstraction and representation, movement and stillness, flatness and depth. I use color to create moods that reference specific times of day and particular seasons. My mark making is energetic and calligraphic, responding to the wildness of nature.
My most recent work is collages created from experimental prints, drawings and etchings.
I received my BFA from Mass Art and my MFA from the Museum School.
I taught drawing in RISD’s pre-college program or 30 years.
