Artist statement:
In 2011, I followed an instinct to start exploring painting, and after taking a variety of courses, started to find my niche. Whether I'm doing a portrait or a city scene, I’m attracted to color and often use bold or bright colors to capture the light. Although I grew up in New England, I’ve always been drawn to other cultures, languages, and seeing different ways of life. Many of my paintings are from my travels; and in a sense they’ve become my travel journal. I've noticed I'm starting to look at Boston differently also - as if I'm a tourist - which has given me a new set of eyes and inspired some recent local scenes as well. Above all, I'm trying to capture the feeling of a place, whether through the light, the architecture, or the people. I hope that comes through in my paintings.
